get a gecko. do it. you're talking like a 50-75.00 setup including the gecko. they make WONDERFUL pets! they are social little buggers if you wait till spring I'll even sell you a baby if your in the US...I'll ship it to you for free just pay for the gecko! Heck, if you get one now you'll be wanting another by then!
Always keep your geckos on papertowel or tile people. Sand can cause impaction and kill them.
this is a crested gecko- slightly less fun than leo's as you cant handle them as much...but they have eyelashes- this is BD wong, tank mate to Elliott and Olivia..he's got a baby food mustache right now. 
I had this wooly booger when I moved to NC last year but left him with my roomate when I moved to GA. His name is Mr. Slithers and he is an Albino Tangerine Nelsons milksnake. . . they come in all sorts of color morphs!
